Well, the debate ended a while ago and I'm still happy with my straight Necron list I did up back in November. Finishing up some of my converting and base coating the new models. What am I bringing?
1x Overlord w/ WS, MSS in Command Barge (Gauss) (CB)
1x Overlord w/ WS, MSS, Orb, SPW on foot with Warriors
1x Immortalsx10 (Gauss) w/ Cryptek of Destruction (Solar Pulse) & Lord (WS, MSS, Orb)
1x Immortalsx10 (Tesla) w/ Cryptek of Destruction (Solar Pulse) & Lord (WS, MSS, Orb)
1x NWx20 w/ 2x Crypteks (2xVoltaic staff, 1x Electric field)
1x NWx5 in a Ghost Ark (GA)
1x Scarabsx5
1x Spyders w/ Gloom Prism
2x Annihilation Barge
2x Night Scythes (DT for Immortals, but usually empty.
What I'm starting to think of as a "defensive" flyer list.. I'm more here to do interdiction rather than gain air superiority.

Fairly basic, it resembles an old school phalanx list modified by the new codex. No Allies, no Fortifications. The big NW squad goes out front as a skirmish line, the two NI squads and GA back them up. The Scarabs hang out behind with the Spyder in range to give everyone the 4+ Psychic save. The various Barges are on the flanks and the NS are off board to start.
What can I say, two turns of Night Fighting on my opponent's player turn with the Scarabs zooming off on turn 2 or 3. A multiple threat list with the Scarabs and Barge OL doing some potentially serious damage drawing fire from the core scoring units, the NS killing other flyers or shooting up stuff on the ground. The two drawbacks, only four scoring units normally and lack of dedicated AA, but Annihilation Barges will average three S7 hits vs fliers even with Snapshot (TL gives odds of 1 hit, but because it is a "6", the Tesla rule kicks in to triple it) and getting within 12" of that NW squad is deadly to any vehicle with its eight Haywire shots on top of RF Gauss. OTOH, almost universal 4+ RP make those units a _lot_ tougher than expected by most people.
General tactics: Advance on center, cause trouble with the Scarabs & Barge OL as distraction threats that must be honored, focus fire to beat down the enemy army and then split up to seize objectives/quarters. Yes, it depends on WBB/RP to sustain those units + the GA for the NW squad. Assaulting that big squad is not a fun idea as I've found out more than once in game.
Specific tactics, remember that the Crypteks are Characters and keep their 6s for Precision shots and strikes.
Yes, there are lots and lots of variations on this list that I'm tempted to take, but having lost a Spyder + Scarabs already to fund the flyers and some other goodies, I'm not going to experiment much further.
