I've been working on my various lists that I have built for 'Ard Boyz and have narrowed it down to two, although the idea of tacking 3x PotMS Vindicators with XA does have some appeal also for one reason. I've noticed that the time limit for each round is given as 2.5 hours, which as I found out can be a bit tight for time, especially if I'm having to throw a lot of templates and/or I run into a list I'd prefer to deep strike my entire force against.
They are fairly basic (and I don't feel like reformatting them again). Mainly I'm looking at
HQ: EC-AACNMTO
2x Castellan (SS/LC) w/ Term Cmd Squad (2xCML/SB/PF, 1xSB/PF, 1x SS/PW) Tank Hunters
Elites: DN (Ass Can/DCCW/HF/XA) (No, no pod)
2x THDC Terminator Squads (Basic, no CF)
Troops: 5x Crusaders (5/0, Meltagun, 4xBolter, Drop Pod) (maybe one squad with BP/CCW to go with EC)
Fast Attack: 6x LS-Typhoons with Heavy Bolters split into three squadrons
The Castellan squads give me Rites of Battle, and extra pair of TH-Cyclones and provide the countercharge capability I use the Assault Terminators for in my 2k list. I squeezed in the Dreadnought to give me another shooter/countercharge unit by reducing a lot of the bells & whistles and stripping the Crusader squads down to a meltagun. The only variation I'm considering is dropping one of the Crusader squads to make the Dreadnought a Venerable Tank Hunter with Lascannon, put a chainfist back into the four Terminator squads (just in case), spreading some Neophytes among the four remaining Crusader squads for ablative hits and buying a few "toys" (auspex and frags come to mind) for some models.
My logic for going to just four scoring units is that I've won almost all my objective games by smashing my enemies' troops by fire and a bit of CC while being able to leave a troop or two on the objectives I'm going to hold.
This will give me a lot of upfront firepower (as would the triple Vindicator list) at the price of having one unit that must start on the board (the Dreadnought) to try to alpha strike down my opponent from multiple sources. That way if the game does drag, I can rely on more body count instead of the normal turn or three extra I can depend on in an untimed game.
