First look at actual models, I shrieked. I'm fielding 40 Guardsman, 9 Guard HWT, 4 Chimeras, 2 Hydras, 3 Speeders, 1 Vindicator, 9 Terminators and 7(!!) PA Marines, only 5 of them being Initiates. AHHH! Where did my Templars all go. Yes, I know, I ran a Marine light DS list, but that was still 15 Terminators and 26 Marines, but I at least got to look at 12 more Marines in my Speeders. That is an awfully thin "crust" of Marines covering for the IG scoring units, but... the reversed list isn't much better (5 more Terminators, 5 more Marines) and the solo list wasn't all that much bigger either.
Anyway, this should play fairly straight, IG Commander (Warlord) sets up in the rear with the mortars, Hydras and Crusader squad. Terminator, Speeders, Vindicator and Chimeras roll forward, banging away. EC tags along with one of the Chimeras to join in the fun when he can.
I went with the Hydras for two reasons: 1) I don't have to buy an Aegis yet, 2) they are good at killing Flyers, Flying MCs and Skimmers. I'm expecting plenty of flyers and FMCs to make debuts and Skimmers are fairly popular. I may not like the way they perform, but I'll find out and since they are going to be Immolators playing "counts as", it should be all good.
Now if the Magic crowd doesn't swarm us under this weekend. Hmmm, I might try to get a game Friday afternoon.
