Alternate Deep Strike List

Well, I was reading a post over at Nike's Bringer of Victory blog and that plus the commentary got me thinking about a little change up in my usual 2k list.  Pretty much pull the Assault Terminators, drop half the LS-Typhoons, fiddle with the Crusader squads some and plug back in a Castellan, Term Command Squad and cheap Dreadnought (okay, 120 may not be cheap, but it beats the 170 I'm used to...).
1  Emperor's Champion – Accept Any Challenge, No Matter The Odds  [140]
1  Castellan, SS/LC, Tank Hunter  [108]
1  Terminator Cmd (CML/SB/PF, CML/SB/CF, SB/PF, SS/PW), Tank Hunter  [242]
2  Terminator (2xCyclone ML/SB/PF, 2xSB/PF, 1xSB/CF, Tank Hunter)  [540]
1  Dreadnought, XA, AssCan, HF/DCCW  [120]
4  Crusader (5/0, Melta, Bolters, Pod-SB)  [480]
1  Crusader (5/2, Melta, BP/PF, BP/CCW, Pod-SB) [155] (EC goes here)
3  Land Speeder Typhoon (HB/Typhoon ML)  [210]
Total:  1995

I gain two more unit shots, lose two double shot missile launchers, add two more kill points and exchange the CC goodness of my Assault Terminators for the Castellan and a Dreadnought.  Overall net loss in total firepower (at least IMO) to gain the flexibility of targeting more shots.

Thoughts?

Well, assuming that the list on your main page is current, I'd stick with that one. For a couple of reasons:

1) If you're not dropping the Dreadnought in and forcing him to walk, I think the Assault Terminators play a better role in the list. The Dreadnought has to walk a long distance before any of his shooting gets into range, while exposed to incoming fire. At least the terminators would be fairly durable.

2) You lose a lot of your firepower by dropping the 2nd Typhoon in each squadron. This is your most mobile weapons platform in your list. It hurts lots to lose them imo.

3) The command squad feels forced to me. Sure it might be more durable via Storm Shields, but you're not really gaining a whole lot by adding it to the list. Perhaps its just me. :D

It feels forced to me too, which is why I've never seriously fielded one, except at 'Ard Boyz where I replaced the Assault Terminator with a pair of the Castellan led THDC squads and a Venerable TH-TLLC Dreadnought.

Benefits technically would be:
1) extra pair of TH Cyclone launchers
2) adding two extra "shot" actions
3) maintaining the CC threat

Downsides:
1) losing some of the extra "punch" through firepower of the Speeders
2) the walking Dreadnought

I'm still fiddling, but I could pull the Dread and some chainfists to get two Speeders back or pull a Neophyte and the chainfists to get a Pod for the Dread.

I got impressed by the Castellan squad during 'Ard Boyz where I was able to use the I5 to slag with rerolled hits and wounds to blunt the edge in CC situations.

I might give it a whirl next month if I get a chance.
