Working on my list for 'Ard Boyz, I decided to apply Nike's metrics system from Bringer of Victory. I got some interesting results.
The list I used is this one:
HQ: EC-AACNMTO
2x Castellan (SS/LC) w/ Term Cmd Squad (1xCML/SB/PF, 1xCML/SB/CF, 1xSB/PF, 1x SS/PW) Tank Hunters
Elites: Venerable DN (TLLC/DCCW/HF/XA, Tank Hunters) (No, no pod)
2x THDC Terminator Squads (2xCML/SB/PF, 2xSB/PF, 1xSB/CF)
Troops: 3x Crusaders (5/1, Meltagun, 4xBolter, Drop Pod)
Crusader (5/1, Meltagun, 4xBP/CCW, Drop Pod)
Fast Attack: 6x LS-Typhoons with Heavy Bolters split into three squadrons
This list is 10 points short, which will go into some Frags. The Neophytes will be pulled (plus the Frags) if the local TO forces my Castellans into TDA.
Interesting breakdown:
DMS: 29.393
DMCC: 48.169(!)
DRPG(S): 71.474
DRPG(CC): 74.166 (This is with all four Terminator squads cut down to 15 max each) (!)
DLRPG(S): 18.145
DLRPG(CC): 39.164(!)
I split out the CC vs. shooting against vehicles, so those numbers would be a lot higher, just add them together.
I'd noticed this with my 2k list, even though this isn't a CC army, I've got some surprising CC numbers. Perhaps I need to up my aggression level with the Terminators since they provide over half of my CC numbers. The idea of Terminators tromping forward shooting as they go to charge home does have some attraction for me. I did that the first few games I played when I was fielding a single squad (what I had figures for) until I started laying back more and trying to win by firepower (which works well enough with combined Cyclones + Typhoons with the 21+ DMS metric between them). I've been forgetting that Terminators can butcher normal Marines in CC and the cost? ~40% of a Terminator for a 10
