I was working through the second part of Rethinking the Deep Strike List when I noticed something odd. My figures and Nike's figures for Marshal Laeroth's Gunline list don't seem to be adding up, so I'm going to redo them and see what the variance is.

Of course, the amusing bit, when I was first looking over the various 40k armies, my first love was Sisters of Battle, but at those prices and the economic constraints I was under at the time, there was no way I could afford them. In fact, the main reason I ended up with the Black Templars (after discarding the idea of Space Marines at all) was a random comment somewhere that called the Black Templars the "Sister" Marines. My second choice was the Necrons and guess what is about to come out now...

Haha. Its funny you mention that. Cause my first choice for a 2nd army was Necrons. So I'm definitely going to dabble, though I think I'm going to stick with the Dark Eldar as the main secondary army. ;)

My numbers were slightly different than Nikephoros' numbers on my gunline list too. :P

Wait, you mean to say that you didn't jump on the Sisters of Battle when they got their update a couple of months ago? Why not? :P

For some reason on one of my lists Marshal Learoth's numbers and my own were different, but not evenly (that is a horrible description for what I mean, but I can't think of anything better without going and checking specifics).

I had noticed that Nike and I were in disagreement in two areas, the first was DMS, but that was a minor error from how we were calculating that didn't change the numbers enough to matter (I think Nike uses the percentages rather than the fractions) and the second was figuring DRPG/DLRPG since I didn't realize he was just counting penetrating hits.

I've already got the new codex reserved at the LGS and I'm probably going to jump on them, but I want to see it first. If the rumors at this point are good, then I'm probably okay, but might reject them. The fluff looks like Necrons Plus for some more variety, in that the fluff has changed to account for the full awakening, but has sufficient vagueness to not totally contradict the earlier fluff. I'm going to be irked if suddenly the Void Dragon on Mars just became some big shard of the dead Void Dragon. Ick. Or the fact that some Space Marine was the one who released the Nightbringer.

Oh, the "Update" codex? HAH! The battle report said it all, put the Sisters into a freebie AV14 structure, face a subpar 'Nid list and barely squeak out a win. Oh, I would have bought into them fairly heavily...IF (that is a real big fat IF) GW had gone ahead and released the Sister plastic minis they already have in hand. One box of five to do the Celestians, Battle Sisters, Dominions, Retributors & Seraphim plus a box of ten for Repentia.

Instead, they try to dump the metal minis at inflated prices. No thanks.

The only good bit? I have ~100 minis that I can use to convert to Sisters unless they redo the sprues for the five model box. All I really need now to field infantry for a Sisters' army is good heads for them. Arms, Bolters, Backpacks, I have plenty of. Which means that out of six parts to the mini, five will be official GW and therefore tournament legal. ;)
