Moving Along

Need to double check, but except for the actual power fists on two models, all now have their gunmetal bits done, I'm hoping to get them finished later tonight and then I can move on to the red bits (eyes and some other details.  I'll update the main page when I finish with the fists.

Hardest problem I'm running into is I want to get into over detailing what are only basic troop models.  It includes wanting to try to hit tiny bits that can only be seen when you turn the model over, hold it a particular angle, use a bright light and magnifier.  When the downside is making a clear "oopsie" if the brush slips even a little.  Fortunately I almost "oopsied" real badly, but it was small enough and I was quick enough to get a damp brush in there and wipe it off.

Another mental trick I'm using is promising to do stuff I want a bit of detail painting along with each major color run through so that I do get some tiny variation between models.

I'm totally guilty of the putting lots of detail work into our Troops. Unfortunately, I have slight OCD, so my marines require it. I'm not sure I could be satisfied with them unless I did it. So it'll slow my progress down a bit, but its worth it in the end for me. :)

Are you going for the full swathe of marines in one pass? Yikes! I couldn't do that. I have to do them in slots of fives to stay sane. I can't paint so many like-things all in a row, I'd go crazy. Haha. But, if you can handle it...it is a much more efficient way of doing things. :D

Keep it up! We're rocking! ;)

I have a bit of that too. I've also had a series of repeated life lessons in discerning between which jobs required absolute and total perfection in every sub task and those which required completing the big picture task in a set time period.

Since I'm going to be using a spray sealant once I'm done that can be painted on, I can go back and add detailing if I want to.

I usually only do a few figures at a time to prevent boredom (and creeping errors) and cover my little palette tray with something while I'm off doing something else.
