Sorting...Contiues

Okay, all of the DT stuff is off the shelf, my two black Army Transport bags are packed to the gills, the shrink wrapped GW boxes are up on the shelf and I've run down some of the stray DT items that weren't where they were supposed to be.  The gun case idea kinda works, the bases for DT are a bit bigger (30mm) so I cannot use the egg crate foam for now.  I'll have to find my other foam I used to cut spots for 40mm bases and get something closer to 30mm to use as a cutter.  Considering I don't need all of the units at first, I can probably just use the cases where I have the original foam and just lay the guys into the egg crate for now.  Or just take the big Dust box with all the minis in it.

Now it is just sorting through and condensing all the boxes.  I'm beginning to choke at all the minis I'm finding stashed in boxes.  Except for Neophytes, I think I could field six full Crusader squads (weapon options might be limited), plus some Sword Brethren and probably a squad of Assault Marines , maybe two.  And the sprue, the massive amounts of sprue.  Actually, this is good, I've test build one small piece and it works fairly quickly once you get past the boring bits of cutting it up.  You make "bricks" out of the sprue, then just plastic glue them together into a wall.  Easy building build.

BTW, what's up with you guys.  Dead, dead, dead on traffic for a while, now

Admittedly, I did that condensing for a whole lot of my stuff not to long ago myself. Kinda sucks, but since I don't use the majority of it...away she goes.

Wargame blogging seems to be on its downtrend. At the beginning of 5th Edition, there was an explosion of blogs and readers for them. Now...a lot of people's skill levels have grown, but more so...6th Edition happened and 40k lost a lot of players. Warmahordes seems to be losing players rapidly as well. :(

Heh, Warmahordes IMO sux. Yes, it has (or had, I've heard complaints) a better game system and while they may not be doing worse than GW on getting the fluff to drive the rules, the fluff isn't real compelling either.

I think a lot of people locally went to it because it was the only decent alternative to Fantasy after it melted down. WMH isn't being played much here. Flames of War has some following, but it is at another FLGS (actually hobby store).

Arcane Legions was a great game...but I found it when it was dead, and we aren't going to talk about how big an army I could build in it, I got it all in a firesale for like $150 except for one mini that had sold out before the company went under. I'll just say I could run a bigger tournament than the FLGS' bigger store could handle.

Dust Tactics is a lot of fun, quick and easy. Warfare....some of the guys online swear by it, but there is only one feature that I'd like to see in Tactics. Shall I say Andy Chambers had a big hand in it and as soon as he got onboard, instead of a fairly straight conversion of the game system with some added chrome, he turned it into something else. I have quite a bit slowly accumulated.

Dropzone Commander is next up, I picked up the PHR skirmish starter box and the new two player starter with UCM vs. Scourge should come in at under $100, with is about the same as the single army starters (plastic vs resin, plus other goodies, and the idea is to HOOK new players, not rape them for every penny you can get). Also, the game works at 500 point skirmish levels (yes, the points appear designed to match 40k for game sizes, skirmish to 1000, battle to 2000, clash to 3000) which 40k does not without some outside help. Note how the new EC would do in a 500 point game with a full Crusader squad on foot or shoving the EC with all the Initiates & Neophytes you could buy inside a LRC. Not 100% an "I Win" button there, but close.

Heck that is the biggest attractiveness of DZC...for ~$500 I can buy a wide variety of one factions units, some spares (since I read and see where to save points by getting the cheaper models), and some of the newer units. Compared to 40k, its Nada.

Technically the new units are "experimental", but Hawk cut the price of one PHR walker and raised the price of another based on player feedback, so I feel pretty good there.

Oh BTW, part of what I found I had forgotten was this fully painted squad on green bases. I had to scratch my head for a couple of minutes before I remembered where they came from...
