Straight up, this is NOT a 40k post, this is a brag post..
Well, I may have missed Coastal Assault but the Black Templars rolled to 3d place using their Pinewood Derby car "Templar Express". Now, when my son and I were picking out the look of his car on scouting.org, if I had realized that he was going to want a "Black Templar race car", I would have cut it as a Rhino, glued on some of my spare BT vehicle bits and had fun.

At first he wanted to paint his car black & white, then he wanted some of my cross decals and then he wanted to name it "Black Templar Car" on the day of the race. I suggested "Templar Express", he wanted "Black Templar Express", but I pointed out he only had a little bit of line to write on and he wrote kinda big...
The results were a edge out for 1st place with 8 points (4x 1st, 2x 2d) by the winner and a tie at 9 points (3x 1st, 3x second) for second place. One of them was the "Templar Express". So, we had a run off race for bragging rights, although by that time we knew that the "Express" was rolling on to the District level racing. Unfortunately, that is where it will probably end, because this one isn't a "Daddy-built". Yes, I helped and did the dangerous bits, but I made him watch and learn.
Actually, watching the car run down the track I was actually wondering what would have happened if I'd gone ahead and just slipped in a couple of those "Daddy" mods that no seven year old would be able to pull off... So, off we go for the madhouse of I think 180 Tiger Cubs in a double loss elimination run off. Daddy & son just need to get the board back out and make sure that the wheels are still straight.
