Okay, I'm not in the habit of everyday commenting, but then I don't like Twitter either....
Busy week, I had something to do on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. At least during my peak "quiet time" hours where I'm not going to get interrupted by the wife and son. Saturday was fun though, get ready for party, do the Chuck E Cheese party for my newly six year old. Get dropped off at the LGS to pick up my order and see what the local tournament players are playing: 1x Codex Marines, 2x IG (1 lots of arty vehicles, 1 lots of Leman Russ), 1x 'Nid, 1x Chaos Demons, 3x Chaos Marines, 1x DE (not playing, but saw the silly flying boat things by the one empty table), which implies one unknown army (army carrying case below table)).
On the progress front:
The paper "infantry" pod models looked good, went together nicely, but ended up ~1" too short! No, I'm not piling a bunch of poster board circles under it. The Dreadnought pattern pod goes together okay but looks like crap. It will do for now. I broke open the GW kit and used it to build patterns for a posterboard pod. First one is cut out and I'm figuring the best way to assemble it cleanly (since I'd like to do this nice enough to improve, paint and keep if I can). I think I'm going to simulate the doors dropping (they technically could provide cover) with a stiff paper circle as "area" cover. About 2" outside the pod base should be about right, and it will double as a deployment template.
The second paper DN pattern will get put together too, because I can see how to make the posterboard one have opening doors, but that one will need a bit more pattern work, the current pattern I build is just base, five upright and five doors and the doors are part of the bracing. Top will be open for now.
Today is going to be a good day I hope for finishing up the po
